Home Is Where the Sun Is

I forgot what it was like to exist day in and day out with no sun. Living in southern California for the last 13 years will do that to a person…among other things. Yet, people are here in the northeast corner of the country functioning, surprisingly, under perpetual gray skies. It was a distant memory for me and one I was happy to leave behind.

Point, CA.

It isn’t all bad being in Pennsylvania though, in fact, being close to my family is very good. As independent as I tend to be, by nature and by choice, it is wonderful to have a support system all around me.

Point, PA. (Maybe that is worth even two points.)

So in this new year where I find myself uprooted from the city and home that I loved, I am certain I will find the next one and it will be everything I crave. Whether it is the east coast, west coast, or somewhere in between (but somewhere cool, of course, like Dallas) remains to be seen. I am very grateful for the unexpected changes of 2020. It propelled me into drastic move making that never would have happened without it. I truly believe a situation as rare as this, is nothing short of a gift. A gift of total freedom and to choose anywhere I feel led to be.

It was also an opportunity of new beginnings as I am now with a new athleisure brand, Savvi. I am blessed to spend my days sharing not only an addictive collection of luxe clothing, but freedom to work from wherever home is. Sun or no sun.

Check out the latest collection from Savvi. New styles drop every Friday!

I’d love to hear how your 2021 looks entirely different from your 2020. Share in comments below and wishing you all the best in the new year!

Short Cut

My hair is long.  I like it long.  It took years to grow it to this length, so I do not foresee myself cutting it any time soon.  The only time I don’t love it, is when I am in hurry and have to wash, dry, and style it. That takes FOREVER  and every minute in the morning is precious (since I am not a morning person as mentioned in a previous post One More Night).  Thankfully, it’s not necessary to wash your hair everyday and truth be told, it always seems to look better on day 2!   Is that true for any of you lovely ladies out there too?  On shampoo days, I will do my makeup, drink my coffee, even walk my dog with wet hair so that it will begin to air dry and not take so long to blow out. My arms get tired wrestling with the hair dryer and brush so saving some time here is the goal.   That works fairly well except now it’s too chilly in the mornings to be walking around town with a wet head  (it may be in the 50s, but it’s all relative and FEELS cold).  I have found a better short cut to my drying time that I wanted to share .  It is a soft and lightweight microfiber Go2Towel.  I saw it online and was sent one to try.  Once out of the shower, I gently squeezed the excess water from my hair and wrapped it up in this.  I left it on while I moisturized face and body and it absorbed most of the moisture very quickly. The other reason I really like this towel is the very Glam & Sassy pink color!  You can check it out on their website. It has several other uses like for the beach and yoga and is great for travel. I was also thinking this would be a great gift idea…not for me, since I already have one, but I can give you my Christmas list if you were going to send me something haha!  Thanks for reading and have a Glam & Sassy day!

Last Chance

Did summer absolutely fly by or is it just me who incorrectly still thinks there is plenty of time to work on my tan and spend that one whole weekend I promised myself at the beach?  For my East Coast peeps, I really feel for you.  I remember all too well that the end of August meant my fave season of open windows and trips to the shore wouldn’t be back for 9 long, hard months. At least here in Southern California, the summer weather will continue well into October, but that carefree summer vibe is already slipping away.  Luckily, we still have Labor Day weekend to squeeze in as many summer activities as possible in 3 fun-filled days.  Here are a few of my style tips and must haves for this farewell to summer.

White Hot:

There is nothing sexier than a Glam & Sassy girl in white jeans or dress…or so I’m  told:)  I am not saying that after Labor Day you have to pack your white away because no one under the age of 70 thinks like that anymore.  White has an assumed innocence about it which is why it is so hot, especially if that is a bit of an oxymoron for you as it is for me!  Either way, there is nothing more carefree than  a flowy white dress that you can wear to a picnic or a party.  I am going to style mine with sandals for day and chunky boots for night.  Dare to experiment! Give cowboy boots a whirl and have fun two- stepping around town.

Blow It:

You know what I really will miss about summer? My beachy waves.  I don’t surf, but I live close to the ocean, so on the days it is too steamy to straighten, I could always get away with loose, piecy curls with an “I just got off my board” or…you know that OTHER fun activity that messes up our luscious locks (insert winkey emoji with tongue sticking out haha)!  Either way, it is easy, sexy and totally acceptable.  So you know I will be rocking it this weekend one last time! The key is a great styling product and only partly blow drying. Don’t be afraid to get rough and use your fingers to get the desired effect.  I prefer using a spray to better control how much comes out so I don’t end up with a mess in my hands.  But my number one deciding factor on what to use on my hair is how good it smells.  You’re welcome dudes standing waaaay too close to me at the bar.

Hold On Tight:

As summer winds downs, I plan on cramming as much into this weekend as possible.  This kind of social marathon requires a fashionable tote that will keep all of the necessities I need to bounce from pool to party and beach to bbq.  Sunglasses, sunscreen, teeny bikini…check, check and check!  I like this nylon one available at Nordstrom because it is durable and easy to clean in case someone, not me of course, spills a drink nearby and the neutral color goes with everything.   Hey, something as good as summer only comes around once a year. Don’t miss out on this last weekend to do something really fun and to be Glam & Sassy!
