Saying I Do

Hello Glam & Sassy loves! We are embarking on that season where everything is in bloom. It is refreshing to wake up to birds chirping and the sun shining and my summer body is almost in full effect. Also in full effect is the bridal season. I recently had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of a very posh bridal boutique in La Jolla, California,  Online Consign Couture.  Maryanne Sefton, President , had a dream to bring joy and happiness to each bride by offering affordable prices on lovingly worn designer dresses, and it shows! When I entered the beautiful home turned boutique, I was greeted by the fragrance of fresh florals and the eye candy of gorgeous gowns.  It made even this Glam & Sassy girl for life, whom I am devoted to, in sickness and in health, feel as if the words “I do” were about to roll off my tongue and out of my parted lips while my eyes gazed at the couture filled room! A feeling this good is as exhilarating as an unexpected chance meeting which I also experienced this time last year. See, it is definitely a “Spring Thing” so here are a few of the reasons I fell in love at first sight!

The One:

The show stopper for the night is actually the gown I want to feature because I don’t believe in saving the best for last. I am not into wasting anyone’s time, especially mine, so let’s get down to it. This breathtaking bridal is by Ines di Santo and as if the train wasn’t stunning enough, I was blown away when I saw it removed and then removed again until all that was left was a perfect party dress, and let’s be honest, the party is the best part! Not only do I love every aspect of this gown, but it eliminates the need to have a second wedding dress to change into AFTER the wedding. This three way is so exciting and I am ready to shout it from the rooftops that I am in love! Groom is tbd.

Tis the Season to Sparkle

Hello Glam & Sassy loves! The holidays are in full swing and I love this time of year! I listen to Christmas music from Thanksgiving till New Year’s and you can find me singing along if you pull up next to me in my car.  After moving to Southern California from New Jersey, it took me a year or two to find the Christmas spirit amidst the sun and the seventy degree temps. Now at the first twinkle light sighting, I am planning parties to attend, gifts to buy, and outfits to wear. I also have found there are a lot of sales prior to Christmas, so I no longer have to wait to see what Santa brings and settle for the leftover styles on December 26^th   …and now neither do you! Check out a few of my fave looks for holiday that you will enjoy now and straight into 2017.

Red Hot

This year, I actually embraced the traditional “anything red” for holiday parties. I tend to skip that for several reasons one being I am not at all traditional and second, I prefer pink all day long to red. Then I found this festive blouse from W by Worth that is THE perfect red for me and for anyone. It is a blue red, not an orange red, and that makes it work on all skin tones. While wearing this top, I felt like I was draped in pink’s grown up sexier sister and now I will be buying more pieces in this daring color.  Cheers to that!

Dream Guy

I have had one true love in my life. When we were introduced a while back, I knew one day I would have him. I thought it to be a bit outrageous at first, but after the first touch and feel and smell, I knew it was love at first sight. It was totally worth the wait and I still feel that way and probably will for the rest of my life. This love of mine is Louis Vuitton.  I am not a label whore, but these bags do last forever and therefore the price is (somewhat) easily justifiable. This LV tote comes in handy for daytime outings in the city and as my travel survival kit on any flight because it is strong and sexy and feels so good! Just like my perfect man!

Sparkle on Sister

I believe we Glam & Sassy girls should sparkle every day, but there is no better time than the present. I love sequins and glitter and anything that shines. The sparkle trend isn’t limited to fashion and I am obsessed with glitter manicures! I added glitter to every other nail and a soft pink on the others. I like how versatile it is and since it is gel, I will be rocking this straight into the New Year as I fist pump into 2017. Hey, you can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey out of the girl!

Which of these looks and trends do you hope to find under your tree?  Whether I was naughty or nice this year, I’ll never tell. But one thing is for sure… I was definitely Glam & Sassy!

 

 

 

 

Fantasy is the best Reality

Hello Glam & Sassy loves! Are you having as much fun with all of the fabulous fall clothes as I am?  I love shopping 365 days and all 4 seasons, but there is just something about fashion this time of year that is so fantastic. Maybe it is the luxe leather, the soft suede, the  cozy cashmere, or my love of layering, but whatever it is, I want it ALL! If you could fill your closet with everything your heart desired, what would it be?  I invite you to enter my fantasy world and I’ll share with you what’s inside…

Leather Bound:

It’s girls night out and you want to look flirty while keeping it casual. Dark denim is a great way to achieve this, but turn up your hotness factor and slide yourself into leather pants. When you are shopping for the perfect pair, buy a size that fits right and by right I mean tight. There is nothing sexy about baggy pants and  leather gives with wear. You want it to mold to your beautiful body over time. I am excited to say I have finally found my ideal match named  Bowie. This leather and ponte pant from W by Worth feels like my second skin and I believe it was made especially for me, but I will share it with you. It comes in three colors (black, navy and rootbeer) so there is plenty of Bowie to go around, ladies.

 

Lacey Intimates:

Lace camis aren’t just for the bedroom. They are one of this season’s most perfect layering pieces in fabric that feels like a dream. Find one made of a silk or poly blend with adjustable bra like straps.  Layer it under a jacket or style it with the above mentioned leather pants and get looks that linger all night.

Soft to Touch:

Fall wouldn’t be complete for me without pumpkin lattes (crave them), falling leaves (miss them) and faux furs (love them).  Fur shorties are very on trend and look great styled with anything from a dress to jeans. Another fun way to add softness in your life is a cuddle worthy fur scarf. I am obsessed with this ombre fur oblong . I have styled many of my clients’ in this and it has become their must have accessory of the season. One more of my fave things about autumn is my upcoming birthday month so stayed tuned to check out my birthday suit/outfit. All I can tell you is it will be very Glam & definitely Sassy.

The Non-Negotiables

Hello Glam & Sassy loves!  As we gain experience in life, we discover things we need to be happy.  This is true of relationships, careers, and hobbies. It is also the case in our wardrobes. No self respecting woman would settle for anything less than a closet containing certain key pieces.  In defining the non-negotiables/ essentials/ must have’s…they are items that are high in quality, versatile, and long lasting. Commitment-phobes need not continue to read because it only makes sense to invest if the plan is to keep them around for while.  Now that you  have gotten rid of those things in your closet that have been taking up space since reading my last blog, Breaking Up, you are ready to replace with clothing that is actually worthy of you.

The Perfect Partner:

For those of you who remember the movie, Jerry McGuire, the line “You complete me” had ladies swooning.  Are you looking for YOUR perfect missing piece? I suggest something versatile enough to wear as a power suit with pants, a classic look with a skirt, or casual with jeans. A perfectly proportioned jacket with a flattering cut and beautiful fabric will check all these boxes.  If your budget allows you to invest in only one, then black is the obvious choice for a polished look.  Since you will want to wear it year round, choose a cotton/ viscose blend that won’t be too hot in the summer and the bonus is this fabric also travels well and who doesn’t love to travel!  I am obsessed with this Tonal Mini Jacquard jacket from W by Worth.  With it’s subtle sheen, it is sure to outshine the rest.

Trade Up:

I am going to skip the LBD as I feel it is safe to assume we all have at least two, and if we are being honest, the actual number is the that times three. So before you allow yourself to be tempted by yet another, go for something you will wear again and again, a little white dress.  A white dress for spring and summer is so fresh and bold. It will definitely stand out among the sea of black.  Accessories will change the look from day to evening , as will shoes. Stop the insanity of being attracted to something similar to what you just purged from your life, and go with the complete opposite. It will be a refreshing change and you will love the stretch in this cotton denim dress as show off your new look.

Head Turner:

Another must have, at least for me, is attraction.  This is a non-negotiable for sure! Call me shallow, but I crave anything that is appealing to the eye. What is the point of getting dressed, if your outfit doesn’t turn a few heads? Novelty prints and basic silhouettes are fine, but to up your wow factor, experimentation is key. Try one of this season’s trends, off the shoulder tops. So soft. So sexy. So easy to style with jeans, joggers, or shorts.  Slip into one before you slip out the door and just watch what happens when you look Glam & Sassy .

Life’s Little Luxuries

Hello Glam & Sassy loves. I have a bold statement to make. I have a great life. I was a Jersey girl but now live in beautiful southern California.  My business revolves around fashion and fun. I am surrounded by fabulous people and I get to travel often. Yes, life is good and I am blessed to be able to indulge in luxuries such as boutique hotels, fantastic restaurants and designer everything. I work hard and believe in rewarding myself.  However, there is one item for fall that I have not yet attained . Sad face.

Over the weekend, I was last minute dress shopping for an event the next day, which, as a personal shopper and stylist, I do NOT recommend!  As I was perusing through all of the gorgeous fall fashions, my fingers caressed the softest, most supple leather pants and for a moment, I actually gasped in excitement.  I began envisioning the places I would show them off, how great my butt would look, and what sexy shoes I would wear. Then I gasped again as I noticed the price.  Does that really say one thousand dollars (ok $995 but it would be over $1000 after CA sales tax…something I miss about Jersey, no sales tax on clothing, oh and no self-serve gas stations, do you know how awesome that is when it is cold and raining which is A LOT back there??? )  Now, I know that may seem silly coming from someone who has no problem dropping twice that on a handbag, but pants?  And leather? In San Diego? I need some VERY creative accounting to justify that spend on something I would wear a few times before I felt like “I was already seen in these” and put them back in the closet.  Leather pants are not the same as your favorite premium denim which can be worn over and over again and no one knows as long as it’s styled with different tops and shoes. The very definition of “leather pants” is “statement piece”. I know what you are thinking.  Just get a less expensive pair. Not an option. If you saw a really hot guy out one night and you were already teased by the attraction, you wouldn’t settle for his less than hot friend, would you?  I think not.  Ok so here they are.  Check them out and let me know if they are a little luxury that no Glam & Sassy girl should be without! xo

The Lust List

I was just in Vegas.  I ABSOLUTELY love Vegas and  I do not even gamble!  Sin City offers so much excitement to any Glam & Sassy girl like me (and you since you are reading this)…the beautiful hotels, the spas, the nightclubs and of course, the shopping!  As I was walking thru The Shops at Crystals, love the name btw, I was tempted by all of my lovers…Louis, Jimmy, Christian just to name a few.  I almost made it safely to my destination, The Mandarin Oriental, before my eyes wandered into the Saint Laurent boutique and my feet soon followed.  I was greeted by a very friendly sales associate who saw me smiling at the array of  sexy heels and picking each one up so delicately like a precious  gem. The next thing I know, my boyfriend, who is my shopping soul mate, finds this fabulous clutch and encourages me to touch it, feel it, hold it. It was lust at first sight.  I decide the clutch is a must have and I quickly forget about my forever LV obsession where my hard earned money has been spent over the years.  I also strut out with a pair of heels in nude so that they go with everything ( truth be told, I already own them in black patent and pink, of course) and the credit card is swiped before I could talk myself out of the purchases.  But with two haute/hot styles like these, why the heck would I EVER do that?  Just live the Glam & Sassy life, ladies!
